Here is another great blog by our Internationalization expert Jeff Knorr...

Tackling software globalization for the first time can be a daunting task for any company. An important first step is to ensure that the targeted product is properly internationalized before any localization plans are pursued. A well planned internationalization (i18n) strategy is key to globalization success and will provide product teams with a clear roadmap towards international product release.

But where can one locate information about i18n to educate themselves on the basic standards and terminologies? Where's a good starting point to gain familiarity with the various i18n topics before building a globalization plan or engaging with an i18n contractor? Well, an obvious choice would be to search the Web for answers. However, it's never easy to tell whether the information resulting from a web search is valid, accurate or even correct. Some digging is required to locate i18n resources on the Web that are truly dependable.

To help with this task, I've outlined a list of solid online resources (although not a comprehensive list) which provide a great starting point for learning some of the in's and out's of i18n. The URL's listed below should provide anyone new to the wonderful world of globalization with valuable information on i18n, including standards, techniques, best-practices and definitions.  It's worth noting that these resources are mostly introductory to the topic.  When it comes time to dig deeper and begin planning the details, it's always best to seek assistance and guidance from an i18n expert who's had experience taking software products global.

Happy surfing!
