The apple orchards in the western suburbs of Boston are just starting to bear fruit, and the early apple macintoshes (the kind you eat, not the kind with which you compute) are now ripe for picking. As my family members with heavy New England accents would say, “They’re very taht”.
But I digress.
David F. Carr, the author of the ”Brainyard News” section of Information Week quoted yours truly in his September 7th column in which I contrasted Google’s approach on translation APIs to Lionbridge’s, comparing it to Apples vs Apple Pie. In other words, Google’s approach is to offer tools to developers who can labor to make their own desserts, to continue with the metaphor. Lionbridge, on the other hand, offers a complete translation solution, including integration of GeoFluent real-time translation with the customer’s application. Moreover, unlike, Google, Lionbridge will customize the language model for the customer’s particular domain, branding and terminology, offering a superior, more actionable translation experience.
A slice of apple pie, anyone?
