Google announced that the Google Translate API is going to be shut off completely on December 1, 2011. It is understandable that Google is bearing significant cost to provide the API given the large usage, but it does leave a large number of companies in search of a replacement. One option to consider, Lionbridge has signed an exclusive agreement with IBM to provide a real-time translation web service. This service has been deployed by several large enterprises and is the highest quality alternative available to Google Translate.
