Measuring Video Marketing: Expert Opinions on Best Metrics

Have you noticed there have been a lot of blog posts and articles about video marketing lately? Everyone has something to say – and the Lionbridge team is no exception! Today I want to kind of get past the “you should be using video in your marketing” message though, and into more of a “you should be measuring your video efforts” message.

Video Metrics - Bad SlidesAnd as with anything else marketing-related, measuring video goes beyond showing something like these three slides at your next marketing team meeting…

That just isn’t enough info. You know what they say, though: “Put three marketers in a room, and you’ll get seventeen different ideas of how to measure something.”

You know me well enough by now to know what’s coming next. I wanted to share some expert opinions about what constitutes smart video marketing metrics, so let’s see what we’ve got here:

Of course, there are many more articles on this topic, but this should be enough to get you started on developing your own marketing video metrics strategy.

And by the way, if this was interesting to you, you might also want to go bigger picture and spend a few minutes reading Bryan Eisenberg’s “The Smarter Data Manifesto” (June 14, 2013). He’s one of our favorite authors (“Waiting for Your Cat to Bark?” and “Always be Testing”), and has some great insight to share on data-driven organizations.

And finally, I have two more video goodies for you:

  • The slides from my recent The Time is Now for Global Video presentation at “Brand2Global” in London. I included a ton of trends and statistics, plus suggestions for integrating video into a global marketing strategy.
  • The new (free) Lionbridge eBook, The Fundamentals of Global Video Marketing – which addresses both obstacles and benefits of global video marketing, as well as why there’s never been a better time to jump in.
