SearchCapOkay, so I don't know if you asked or not, but I'll tell you anyway.  It's because working in the search industry means keeping up. And have you noticed a lot happens every day? There's a lot to keep up with. So SearchCap covers just about everything, but of particular interest to those of us with an eye on web globalization, here's a smattering (yes, a smattering, I say) of recent news pieces I found through this daily update:

If that snippet doesn't make you read the article, let's check for your pulse...

Which is better: an HTML site map or XML Sitemap?, by Matt Cutts (YouTube)
Not that this is specific to global web management, but I blogged about sitemaps a while back, so thought I'd sort of continue the train of thought here. Plus, the way Matt explains it makes me laugh - he's just cute.

Google, Yahoo & Microsoft Unite On "Canonical Tag" To Reduce Duplicate Content Clutter, by Vanessa Fox
I totally and completely missed this development back in February, so happy to have stumbled upon it here. Personally, I'm wondering if/how we can/should leverage this with our multilingual sites, where we publish maybe not exact, but pretty darn close, versions of the same page - one for English(US) and one for English(UK). Hmm.

Alright, time to land this baby - my point is, if you're into keeping up and learning stuff, you should subscribe to SearchCap.

Have a great weekend,

Jen
